Holidazed

It's nearing New Year's and resolutions are being mulled over, if not already decided upon. Losing weight tops the list as holiday parties, work potlucks and neighbor cookie exchanges have left many top buttons of pants undone. Cooler weather has graciously permitted layered clothing and loose sweaters to hide the rising muffin top, but the chill won't last forever! Some people settle for a couple extra pounds as a right of passage for the holidays, but no matter the time of year there is always a cause for celebration, which inevitably means a buffet.

The trick to maintaining health all year around is to be CONSISTENT. If you eat healthy (lots of fruits/ vegetables and less processed foods) and exercise, you'll be healthy. You may not be a size 2 or have muscles like Arnold, but you'll have more energy, sleep better, have improved mood and manage medical conditions you currently have, while decreasing your risk for ones you don't.

It is what you do MOST of the time that counts. Don't get caught up in the daze of one food-induced coma celebration after another. Each day, with every bite, make a conscious decision to eat right. Every day, with each step, make a conscious decision to move more. By the next time there's a call to celebrate, you'll feel stronger and healthier instead of holidazed...
